Although the contents of a site ideally appear in the browsers in just a few seconds, this is the result of a complex process that has several distinct steps.
You can find information about each of those steps if you click on the Performance tab after selecting a URL in our application.
Content generation is the fourth part of the process that leads to your website’s appearance in your visitor’s browser. During this phase your server looks up and prepares the HTML document that your browser requested.
If you’d like to know how much time your server needed to complete this step during our measurements, just turn off every element except Content generate on the Performance tab.
You can find additional information about the steps, that are needed to display your contents in this blog post, and in our articles about DNS Lookup, Connect, Request and Transfer.
